Terms of service

What InWriting is

InWriting lets you send a short agreement to someone by email and records whether they agreed, declined, or didn't respond, with a timestamp. The result is a record of what was agreed and when. It is not a legal contract, and we make no claim about its legal effect or enforceability. InWriting is not legal advice; if you need a contract, speak to a lawyer.

Your account

You sign in with an emailed link or code, so your account is as secure as your email inbox. Keep it secure. You must be at least 18 to use InWriting. You're responsible for what you send through it. Your agreements are yours: you give us permission to store them and email them to your recipients, and nothing more.

Acceptable use

Don't use InWriting for anything unlawful or deceptive, and don't use it to send unwanted email. That includes any file you attach: we remove unlawful content when we're made aware of it, and you can report it to support@getinwriting.com. Recipients only get emails about agreements you send them. We can suspend or close accounts that misuse the service.

The free plan

The free plan allows 5 agreements per calendar month, each with one attached file up to 5 MB. Attached files are stored for 1 year; the file's name and fingerprint stay on the record after that. We may change plans, limits, or features. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you by email first.

The record

Timestamps are recorded in UTC by our servers at the moment a response is received. We take care to keep records accurate and available, but the service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the service or reliance on a record. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Ending your account

You can stop using InWriting at any time, and can ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@getinwriting.com. We can close accounts that break these terms. See the privacy policy for what happens to your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
